Fostering Hope Louisiana is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization founded by Leslie Lacy to address the orthodontic and mental health needs of children in foster care. As an attorney and advocate, Leslie witnessed firsthand the economic realities faced by devoted foster parents who prioritized the physiological needs of children in their care over items like a $6,000 set of braces. Children who were less likely to form friendships and who faced limited professional prospects because they were afraid to smile. Fostering Hope Louisiana partners with orthodontists who offer discounted services for medically necessary dental work, combined with the generosity of donors like you, to give these children a reason to smile.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Non-profit organization, Fostering Hope Louisiana, has selected three children from Monroe to receive free braces. They are in need of donors to pay for each child’s procedure. The cost for each procedure will be $4,950. The founder and executive director of the organization, Leslie Lacy, said their mission is to improve the mental health of foster children by providing free dental care. “It’s much easier to invite a young person to an orthodontic treatment than to a counseling session,” said Lacy.
